Origin
Lililan or Lylyan carpets are tribal Persian rugs created by nomadic Kurdish people in the western Iranian province of Markad. These people are Kurdish descendants, and their weaving styles and designs are very similar to those of the Kurds. The rugs are frequently distinguished by the brilliant and vibrant colours used in their design. Traditional flower patterns are common on Lililan carpets, but geometric patterns are also featured. The Lililan is an absolutely stunning rug that would look great in any environment.
In North America, Lilihan rugs are quite popular. The style, colour, and thickness of these luscious, appealing, and exceptionally durable wool rugs are similar to Sarouks, but they are manufactured with a single weft construction and have a longer pile. The Hamadan weave, also known as Sennah Baft, is a single weft weave in which the wefts are rigid and the warps are sinuous. Lilihan rugs are woven in this style. Because there is only one shot of weft between each row of knots, Lilihan rugs are easy to discern. Lillian Rugs are available in the combination of Sanguine Brown, Hawaiian Tan and Alizarin Crimson colors.
